Silent Running..........
Garrett GTP30 (acoustic cover removed)
Here is an attempt to reduce the considerable noise emitted by a Garrett GTP30 gas turbine The GTP30 APU is installed into an acoustically lined box made from MDF material. The box is lined with a high density elastic foam material to provide sound attenuation, further high frequency attenuation is provided by low density foam which is glued to it . The engine breaths the air inside the box and causes it to be drawn in through an air intake labyrinth, the labyrinth is made up from a series of foam lined baffles.

The engine exhaust outlet is fitted with a silencer. The silencer is constructed from a perforated stainless steel liner, the liner is surrounded by preformed glass fiber shields which are enclosed with an aluminum casing. The silencer reduces the exhaust noise without causing back pressure to the engine.
