H&S Stad 250 Stationary Gas Turbine

This British Stationary Engine is built by H&S Aviation and is used to supply low pressure compressed air for aircraft starting. This heavy duty unit uses an oversize compressor to provide air in excess of its own requirements. These engines can be found at most airfields from where jets operate, a heavy old fashioned but robust engine.

The engine features a very large radial inflow turbine wheel. It is normally trailer mounted with a movable exhaust deflector at one end.

A large Hose is used to supply air to awaiting aircraft.
