A very rare stationary engine built by the Austin motor company around 1960. A genuine non-aero-derivative stationary unit, this engine was used for power generation and water pumping. The engine came complete with a fuel tank in the base and a control and instrumentation panel. Other accessories included a speed control and a exhaust heat boiler system. A real classic amongst stationary engines of all types. |
| At least one example of this engine can be found at the British Motor Industry Heritage center at Gaydon in Warickshire, England.
Certain Austin 250 engines were sold as mobile generators and could be found mounted inside vehicles. The basic structure of this engine appears similar to a large industrial diesel turbo-charger. It is likely that this engine was developed from such a unit. |
